I got this for my 10 y/o niece, and she loves it. The key reason we got it for her is so we could program reminders in it for her to turn in her homework when she got to school or to make sure she’s taking her homework folder home. We also hope that it will help her to be more aware of her time management. I know she’s only 10, and always learning and improving, but an early start will help build good habits. The pairing was easy, but I personally didn’t find how to make calls with it intuitive. Also, do not get this watch with the expectation that your kid will be able to call you in an emergency when they’re away from you. If they are outside of bluetooth range to the adult phone it’s bound to, no calls can be made. I think it’s still a good option for her because of the reminders, and it will show how well she handles the responsibility, which her parents can use that to gauge when she’s ready for the real deal. I do like that nearly all the settings you can do on the smart watch can also be controlled from the app on he mom’s phone.Once it’s paired (or bound) with her mother’s cell phone, when my niece makes a call to someone in her contact list or manually dials, it uses the bound phone to do it. So when my niece called me, the call shows up on my phone as if it’s her mother calling me. Your child cannot call the person’s phone in which the watch is bound to, which for some that will make sense, others maybe not. When my niece tried to call her mother’s phone, it would ask for a passcode; as if she were trying to check her voice messages.Quirks about the watch that I find annoying, which may not be obvious to someone who doesn’t have experience using a smart watch…1) Despite setting the screen to stay on for a longer duration at some point it always reverted back to 5 seconds. Maybe they all do this or maybe I just got one that’s a little buggy.2) The child has to remember if they want to make a call they need to first switch the call feature on from within the audio settings. If the smart watch call feature is not on, they will get a message saying there’s no Bluetooth connection. Our experience so far has been that the call feature at some point will switch itself off without notification.3) While the smart watch call feature is turned on, if I call her mother (the phone it’s bound to), it goes through the smart watch and thru her mother’s cell phone.4) Placement of the calling ability within the screen scrolling. You have to scroll past all the fitness and sleep minoring things before getting to the call ability. Like no joke, it’s at the very end. They should have just put it in with the apps with a telephone icon as the first app.5) The product write up boasts that a full charge will last a week. People, this a kids watch and it has games on it, unless your kid has no interest in exploring the watches games and/or features, there’s no way a full charge will last a week. My niece played with it for a solid 15 minutes and it was down to less than half a charge.
